Alum is used as a flocculating agent in raw water / effluent water clarification. Its amphoteric properties endow it with the capability to remove the suspended impurities and organic matter.

Major quantities will be consumed in paper, water treatment plants and soap industries. A considerable quantity of Alum is used by leather tanneries as well as by dyeing units.

A well-known product of Sree Rayalaseema, Aluminium Sulphate, has a diverse range of usages, like mordant in the dyeing of textiles, and other users includes clarifying of oils and fats, Pharmaceutical preparations, Fire proofing and water proofing of cloth and concrete.

Used in anti-perspirants and Agricultural Pesticides.
